Groupon Carpet Cleaning:

With Christmas almost upon I am being solicited by Groupon almost hourly. I must admit I have saved money using Groupon and will probably continue using it in 2019. While having a little down time this week I began scanning the Groupon ads looking for those last minute Christmas deals that some of us are famous for - yes I am a last minute shopper. One of the ads on Groupon was from one of my competitors for carpet cleaning. The ad was $54 for whole house up to 1,200 square feet.

If you aren't aware how Groupon works from the vendor said let me explain it to you before discussing my competitor's ad. Of the $54 you pay Groupon the vendor will get half, in the case $27 dollars and Groupon will get one half or $27. The vendor will get his money in three installments. $9 will be paid out in about (1) week of purchasing, the second $9 will be paid out in (2) months, and the third $9 will be paid out in (4) months. This $54 Groupon is actually cheaper than renting a rug doctor, buying the chemicals, and doing the work yourself, or is it?

One of the things I first noticed about this ad is that they DO NOT tell you what steps they are going to take to clean your carpets ONLY what steps they will NOT take. The things they will not do for the $54 is clean stairs, clean more than 1,200 square feet, treat stains (ie: pet stains), apply carpet protectant, apply deodorizer, or apply pre-spray. If you did not know "pre-spray" is the cleaning solution (ie: soap). They state in their ad that they will not be using a cleaning solution. If they are not going to apply pre-spray then what are they cleaning the carpet with? I hope this is a typo on the Groupon or the vendor. Also according to the two leading carpet manufactures Mohawk and Shaw carpet protectant should be re-applied after every cleaning. Carpet Protectant should NOT. Carpet Protectant extends the life of your carpet and prevents stains from permanently setting into the fibres.

There is an old saying, "If it looks to good to be true it probably is," Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
